Problems

It seems like more and more the realities of being a grownup and of finding out that there is always more problems seems to be apparent to me. Whether they are self made or sprung upon you, there seems to never be a ceasing end of challenges to tackle. Professional, personal, whatever they may be, they are there. Or maybe they arent problems at all, but merely happening that you can either skew towards something good or something bad.

To take an example of the past two weeks, I had my boss break a deal with me for a car I sold him. We agreed on a set price, and he refused after the fact, stating that the car was in poor condition despite me meeting my end of the deal. In the end he opted with giving me half of the agreed amount, and I was angry for a little. I felt like I was being taking advantage of, like things weren’t right and how he should have stuck with his word. I had the misfortune of dealing with a slew of angry customers looking for me for one reason or another, and walked up to the door of my store this morning to literally find a shit covered rag on the door handle. My uncle called me, someone whom I haven’t spoken to in almost 2 years, and he only called me to ask me about my brothers birthday gift. He was very short, curt, and to the point. He made me feel like a child talking to an adult. I resented him for that. For not even taking 15 minutes to talk to me like a family member, and being very quick with me. So much for family. My father still hasn’t bothered calling me after a falling out we had because of an 11 year old car (the same car I sold to my boss). And as much as I want to just stop and feel depressed about it, I have opted to stop getting angry or resentful and just take everything as a lesson. For my boss, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. For the customers at the store, I leave my work at the entrance of the store and come home to mind my business. To my uncle, I tried having a regular conversation with you, and don’t blame you for your abruptness with me. I will continue to wish you well despite your clear lack of interest in my life or my person. And to my father. I hold no anger towards you, I care for you like an honorable son should, and I am ready whenever you are ready to speak to me. I wish you well and think of you frequently.

All I can say is that greatness and achievement comes at a cost, and that is responsibility. These are the greatest treasures of all, both for myself, and for anyone who happens to read this. They are also the most valuable, because they are the only ones that can never be taken away from you.

  1. It is human to have emotions . The only difference lies in how you let the situation let you affect your life. You have rightly decided to respond calmly and not let it affect your personality. Not easy to follow but worth trying..
